Come hear Mohammed Omer speak at 7 p.m. at a wonderful new Arabic restaurant at 8123 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, MD, across from the old firehouse. Come early and stay late to eat a full dinner (mixed grill, kibbeh, shawarma or kabobs), or nibble on hummus, a Jerusalem salad, baba ghanoush, and falafel, and enjoy dessert. Meet the Palestinian owner and cook, Kamal Hawa (who worked at the American Colony Hotel in Jerusalem for four years). The restaurant seats just over 100. While reservations are not required, you might want to call and reserve a table to be sure you have a seat.

There is a parking garage (free after 7 pm) behind the restaurant on Sligo Ave. It is a walk from the Silver Spring Metro; Phone: 301-495-3067
